Our office is proud to offer the latest, most advanced dental lasers available. We utilize all three of the major laser modalities approved for dentistry. Shown below is an Odyssey TW dental laser system - one of several state-of-the-art dental laser systems used in our practice.
"All lasers work by delivering energy in the form of light. When used for surgical and dental procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue that it comes in contact with. When used for "curing" a filling, the laser helps to strengthen the bond between the filling and the tooth. When used in teeth-whitening procedures, the laser acts as a heat source and enhances the effect of tooth-bleaching agents." Source: WebMD.com
The Diode Laser is most widely used for soft tissue modifications such as gingivectomies, frenectomies, biopsies and cosmetic gingival re-contouring. Another clinical use is the treatment of common oral ulcers and cold sores. A simple one minute painless application of laser energy gives complete pain relief from these menacing sores.
The NdYag Laser is a very powerful tool for basic and advanced soft tissue procedures. The NdYag can do all of the procedures of the Diode laser along with more advanced treatment of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss that we deal with today. It has also been associated with heart disease when not treated. The NdYag offers an alternative to traditional periodontal surgery. Laser periodontal treatment is virtually painless with no need to miss work or otherwise alter your lifestyle for healing.
The ErYag laser is used for hard and soft tissue procedures. This laser can be used to actually remove decay from teeth, often without the need for anesthetic. This laser can also be used to contour gingival tissues, treat mouth sores and a wide range of other dental procedures.
Our office has been certified by the Academy of Laser Dentistry for the safe use of these lasers. Advances in laser dentistry are occurring rapidly and we are proud to say that we are well equipped to offer the latest treatments available.
A complete periodontal evaluation is performed to determine if you are a candidate for laser treatment.
